About the event

Let's start planting seeds now!
Winter sowing is a method of jumpstarting seeds into germinating according to the rhythm of the season Many wildflowers and cold weather crops benefit from exposure to freezing temperatures. Stratification is a process that mimics nature in breaking seed dormancy, the cold and warm cycles help to soften seed coats and help to stimulate germination. Allowing seedling crops and plants to grow slowly and strong, without the need to “harden off” plants that may be grown inside or heated greenhouses.
If you would like to learn more about starting your seeds early without the use of grow lights, seed pots, racks and trays the come to our February Appleton Field Community Garden meeting

* Bring an empty clean 1 gallon milk/water jug. We will have soil and seeds
