Initial Cleanup Efforts

The fence had been installed, but there was still a lot to clear from the surrounding property. Here, George Malouf puts in a hard effort clearing surrounding debris. (and there is still more work to be done!)
Fencing and Water Storage

The fence purchased by the Town is what made our Garden possible. A donation of two water containers was another important addition to our "seed captial".

Raised Beds Built and Installed
A crop of winter squash

Folks showed up, spread a layer of cardboard and then covered it with woodchips.

Table Top ADA accessible beds and 2 long, deep raised beds were built and installed by Sally Rossi Ormon with the help from a volunteer and our work party attendees.

This abundant crop is ready for harvest, our first crop!

2021 Efforts Before the Fence
It all began as a student led project in 2021 with Jon Belber leading as coordinator. Before the fence was installed, before the formation of Appleton Field Community Garden, students from Scituate and Cohasset joined efforts to create a garden space, to grow for food pantries, in the current space that the community garden now exists. Great efforts were made, and a lot of fun was had as well! A crop of garlic was planted and harvested, but further planting was held off in wait for the new fence.
